Market Analysis and Value Proposition

The objectives of this Market Analysis was to provide an overview of an organisation potential in gaining market share. It was to provide substantiation and direction as to which areas within an important utility company, key player in the UK energy sector, to target for constitution of a Value proposition. The main objective was to identify the key win themes and to provide a framework for understanding the competition, market, customer needs and barriers to entry.

The market analysis was followed by the creation of a Value Proposition for the development of the organisation activities within this utility company.

 

This utility company relies on its supply chain and on its key partners to provide technological and managerial assistance, to reach their performance targets. Suppliers and partners work closely with stations (on-sites) and in their offices to provide strong technical advice and respond to emergent issues to support the utility company strategy as well as assessing, prioritising and mitigating risks based on safety, and risks related to extending and optimising asset performance.  

 

The Market Analysis identified the key growth areas within this utility company, their budgets and spend. This highlights a total investment budget of ~£1.2bn in engineering projects.  Power stations control a budget ~£600m for future projects and programmes.

This study was followed by the creation of a Value Proposition taking into account of the needs identified in the market analysis.

This value proposition introduced how an organisation, could work alongside this utility company, save cost through value engineering solutions adapted to their needs. Additionally it identified a solid platform upon which to develop a partnership. Furthermore, the Value Proposition highlighted a key proposition, different from competitors and from their current supply chain partners, by emphasising the organisation unique capabilities. Understanding of the utility company’s anticipated future needs, the organisation Value Proposition demonstrated its capabilities of providing a solution today that will enable the utility company to optimise investment costs and maximise the value of current assets.
